ACK. My mobo/CPU arrived this morning from NewEgg.com via Fed Ex. The packaging was perfect. Coincidently, my DDR came this morning as well (Crucial.com said they didn't have any in stock and I would have to wait, but apparently they got the part in early). Anyway, I'm practically wetting myself because within 30 minutes from then, I would be posting from a whole new platform.
What happens?
I opened the NewEgg box, opened the mobo box, took it out and looked at it. At first, I didn't see anything. I opened my P4 and was checking out the incredibly small chip and freaking huge heatsync. I took the P4 and was going to fit it into the mobo to see how it fit (and to make myself feel all warm and tingly inside), and before I seated the CPU, I realized that there was a CRACK across the white plastic. :| Great. Moving the rocker arm to slide the white plastic back, part of the white plastic seat didn't move at all. With the rocker arm down (locked), I could drop the P4 into place, and pull it out again.
Wonderful.
My mobo won't hold the CPU. Anyone had this kind of fault on hardware before? I can't be-freaking-lieve this! MY NEW MOTHERBOARD.
ack...
calm... calm...
I requested an RMA number, and should know within two days whether they'll graciously accept their CRAP-BOARD back and give me a new one. I was advised to call their tech support anyway, and I'm going to do just that.
nik (numb from the STUPID PEOPLE who didn't check before sending it out!!! :| )
