Probably because people have been listening to similar garbage from a variety of similar characters for years and they want to let a little steam off...

Anyway, for all the posters who've refused to drink the cool-aid this past decade. You deserve to celebrate.

On the contrary, you've won an opportunity to take the Republican Party back from the neo-cons and religious extremists. You only lose if you fail to do so.

If you are going to be an attention whore, and start threads with controversial and unpopular POVs *at least on AT P&N*, then expect to have your nose rubbed in the smelly dump you took ;)

PJ seems to be taking it well enough, and since no one else seems willing to post it, Great call on Rummy getting the boot, PJ! There are a number of members that posted, that it wouldn't happen, with what read to me, as 100% certainty, yet it happened.

All these are taken from Real Clear politics.

Last 5 polls
USA Today Gallup Dems +7
ABC-WAPO Dems +6
Pew Research Dems +4
Newsweek Dems +16
Time Dems +15
Average Dems +9.6

So the three most recent polls all show only a 4-7 point advantage for the Democrats.
That is some HUGE movement for the Republican Party. I am sure there are a lot of Republicans looking at these polls and breathing easier.

Like I have said a few times today.
I am a conservative first. In theory the Republican Party is the party of the conservative movement, therefore I am stuck with them.
I am very unhappy with a lot of things they have done. And I blame them for this loss. To much spending, Medicare Drug program, ear marks, scandal etc etc all the things Newt said we were going to eliminate came back to bite us in the ass.

However, I still stand behind the party and I shall tell you why...
Already Slate.com is running an OP-ED calling for Socialized Medicine. I am 100% positive that this is the first step in what will be a LONG LONG list of calls for the Democrats to move to the left.
The call to raise taxes will come soon. As will calls for more government programs to solve every problem under the sun.

I highly doubt the Democrats will be able to control the urge to return to their old tax and spend ways. If they do then I will be happily surprised. If they don't then I warned you :)

How does that paragraph make any sense? Some random internet site calls for the Democrats to move farther left, and even though none of the democrats elected has mentioned anything about socializing medicine, that's enough of a reason for you for always vote Republican. So if a Republican somewhere on the internet called for Republicans to increase spending by hundreds of millions, would you abandon the Republican party? Of course not, because Republicans actually did it... not some random writer but the actual ones in power!! Yet here you are still saying you'll vote for them every time. How can you not see the senselessness in that?

On "Saturday Night Live," we knew Gilda Radner was doing humor. I find little reason to laugh about almost 3,000 dead and tens of thousand wounded American troops in a war based on your fearless, brainless leader's lies. :(

Slate is not a "random web site"
1. It was created by Michael Kinsley of CNN Crossfire and New Republic fame and was owned by Microsoft.
2. It was then bought by the Washington Post Company.

This is not some off the wall blog. This is a well established left/Democratic web site.
and check out the pedigree of the guy who wrote the article
Timothy Noah is a senior writer for Slate Magazine, where he writes the "Hot Documents" and "Chatterbox" columns. He is also a contributing editor to The Washington Monthly. Noah was previously an assistant managing editor at US News and World Report and a Washington reporter for the Wall Street Journal. Before that, he was a staff writer at the New Republic and a congressional correspondent for Newsweek.
This not some fly by night wacko. He is a very mainstream liberal writer-thinker.

By random site, I meant a site that has nothing to do with the elected democrats. Politicians don't decide what to vote for based on a writer, no matter which paper he wrote for. Again I state that I have yet to hear one of the democrats in congress mention socializing medicine, please correct me if I missed something.

Do you have a response for the rest of my post about why an unelected writer can cause you to never vote for Democrats, but Republicans can abandon core ideals for years but you won't consider not voting for them?
