Hi.

I just built a rig with an Athlon X2 3800+ and a MSI Neo4/SLI mobo. I, unfortunately, decided to use 4 sticks of 512mb memory and until today i didnt realize that my X2 was not functioning with them at DDR400. Also, I cant seem to get a 1T command rate no matter what i do. I don't need tremendous overclocks, but in order to run my mem at "stock" speeds, i think i need to overclock and raise my fsb.

So, my question is, will ocing allow me to run my mem at ddr400?

EDIT: I have the fsb at 240 and ddr stable at 400, BUT my ht multiplier cannot be set over 3 so im stuck at an ht of 720mhz right now. I can set it to 4 using nTune and have it run prime for 5 min stable, but i cant boot windows if i have ht at 4 in bios. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: So the damn thing was getting HOT at vcore of 1.4 and still a bit unstable (x64 refused to boot normal, only safemode). Then, i turned everything down to normal, set memclock index from auto to 200 again, and BAM, the mem is running at DDR400 again. This didnt work before so wtf is it working now?

hmm, ok so how much do i need to overclock to make up for the 1/2T performance difference?

If you can, RMA the 4 sticks of RAM and get a 2*1GB set. As far as I know A64's performance are quite largely affect by the command rate and there is a noticeable performance drop going from 1T to 2T.

Having your HTT multi set at 3 is not losing you any performance, it's been tested and after you reach an HTT of around 500(ish) there are no more performance gains, so that is not important.

what HSF you running? You might want to look into investing in a thermalright xp-90 or thermaltake big typhoon.
