just went into the bathroom and there is blood in my kittens litter tray

there are also what look like worms so i assume i need to use worming tablets, but do i need to take the cat to the vet?

is this kind of thing normal?

update: took kitten to vets, he said that it is normal for cats with worms to have blood in thier stools, he gave me some worming powder and gave him an injection (antibiotics).

The vet is the right call. You want your kitten to have the best start possible

Sorry, I'll lay off for a little while. I was just browsing the private babe thread. ;)

And yes, I would take it to a vet.

Any worm medicine should never be given until a vet approves them. Some contain chemicals that, in extreme cases, could kill the animal if they are already infected. Take your kitty to the vet.

I take it you didn't finish then if the kitten is still alive.

Yeah, I read this thread and decided it wasn't worth it.

Remember the vet may want a stool sample.
Mine takes one with his both his hands on my shoulders, should I be concerned?

Only if he whispers sweet nothings in your ear.

Do the worms look like grains of rice? If so they are tapeworm. If not, then probably roundworm.

See a vet. Blood is worrisome.
