So I listed my laptop for sale on Egay. I started the bidd at $625. No action at all for 7 days then at the last minute 4 mofos jack the bid up to over $5,900.

Now I'll need to file a non paying bidder report so I get that 105 dollar charge removed from my ebay account

Here is the listing.

UPDATE
Ok, so I just checked my email like 5 minutes ago and I get this message that Mr Mofo sent me payment to my PayPal account for $1900(he's a little short there). I'm like "CRAP" because that will make a real mess of things with PayPal.

Well I log into my paypal account and there's nothing there.
This stupid mofo sent a spoofed paypal email expecting me to bite.

I would really wish I could have this mofo in a padded sound proof room alone for a few hours. When I'm finished with him, it will make Abu Ghraib prision look like a spa.
His remains would then be put on public display as a warning to all cyberspace scammers and Spammers.

BTW. I get really really upset when people question my intelligence, when It comes to common sence crap.

you can set your auction in a way that you can control people with less than certain number of feedback from bidding on your auction

That's really a shame. Sorry your auction went to pieces like that. I'm honestly a big fan of EBay and the auction process. When buyers and sellers stick to the rules, it can be a great place.

But "Caveat Emptor"; "this thing" is worth as much as some idiot is willing to pay for it! I.E. Beanie Babies, collectible baseball cards, etc.

But when some fake bidder idiot just bids an obscent amount of $$$ on something he has no intention of paying for, that's just horrible.

I, for one, welcome an Orwellian Society where Big Brother knows exactly what you're doing...and they come get you in the night if you messed up badly enough. That would fix things.

It will happen...just not during our lifetime.

The auction just ended a hour ago.
I told him I will only accept payment via a certified check drawn on a national US bank account like Wachovia or Bank of America.

No paypal or Cashier's checks accepted in this case.

Scum or not it's interesting watching them play to people's greed.

Nothing like $5000 "extra" dollars to cloud someone's vision.

The mofo just emailed me saying he wants the "item" send to nigeria.

This is in clear violation of my listed. I only ship to the lower 48.

I filled a report with Egay. Now I just need to wait a week to get that final value charge thingy removed.

Tell him you want payment in cash, small denominations, non-sequential serial numbers, before you'll send the laptop to Nigeria. ;)

Oh and please, still consider shipping to Canada. I know that when you put settings to only ship to the lower 48, Canada needs goods too :)

So does Hawaii and Alaska but shipping costs are way to expensive.

You know, thanks to all of these scammers, I think it's impossible for REAL people in Nigeria to get anything from eBay or any other service.

yup that's true. When I worked for this web hosting company, any account setup with traces to 'Nam or Nigeria were automatically rejected. :D

They steal peoples credit cards, paypal accounts(via phising) and egay accounts.

So yes, they are not real. They are using fake identities they stole.

Well you cannot really block deadbeat bidders, because eGay does not offer any way to stop them effectively. What they should do is make a much more thourough registering / user verification system; however, they would lose more money by doing this. The less eBay does for security the less they have to spend on resources for these matters.
Also there are ways to block certain bidders, but a majority of fake bidders are 0 feedback bidders and there is NO option to block 0 feedback bidders. I do not know why, but eGay just pisses a lot of sellers off by not offering this option.
Yes you can select block bidders who are not from the countries I ship to, but ANY user can register an account as a U.S. account and win a listing.
Perhaps the most secure block bidder option is to block bidders who do not have a PayPal account or use immediate payment required, but again these are special circumstances and only apply to certain situations.

The funny thing is how eGay doesn't bother to help out users unless something huge happens. What puzzles me is why they are blocking/adding rules to certain Xbox 360, PS3, and Wil listing. They do not give a crap about the feedback system etc, yet they feel entitled to heavily monitor these new console listings.

eGay also has a strong grip on any of your listings and if there is any stupid eBay employees they can cancel your listings for even the most obscene reasons. For example they cancel listings citing how it violated the shipping fee policy, but the only thing they see is the very expensive Express Mail option. They fail to see Express Mail is an overnight service and should be very expensive. Even though the shipping calculator is used for calculating the shipping the eGay employee says uh your Express Mail shipping rate is too much we are going to cancel your listing...

Edit: Not going to check for sp/grammer. Use common sense.

If Google would get into the Online Auction racket Ebay will be fracked harder than a drunk cheerleader during the Home Coming game. :D

Yea, I want Google to step up with a much better service than eBay. eBay has completely lost touch with almost all it's sellers if any negative issue arrises that is not 100% favorable to that seller.
I heard rumours awhile ago about it, but it turned out to be Google checkout. O well.

Sorry to tell you, that's not an $800 laptop. It's more like $499 after MIR.

That's why you charge them more for shipping. As an Alaska resident, I expect and accept higher shipping charges to get things (within reason, of course... we get our fair share of people trying to capitalize on us) but most everyone else is fair.

but anyway, sorry about the auction going like it did. send him a p-p-p-powerbook!
