My 17" CRT just blew it went Milky white all of a sudden so I need a new monitor SO I'm on a tight budget but my wife likes the LCD's so please click the link and tell me what you all think of this particular model its a NEC 15" LCD for $257
I've seen it in person (at SAMS CLUB) it looks great but the .29 dot pitch concerns me. Please don't tell me this is the wrong forum because I ONLY look here at off topic SOOOOO, heres an off topic questions "whats you favorite color?

I don't want to buy any LCD via mail order or on-line, I want to buy it from somewhere I can pick up.

15" is pretty darn small. I doubt I could go less then 19" after owning two 19" monitors for 4 years.

the price for lcds ramps up big time with size though.

unless she's a graphics artist or a gamer, 15" is fine i bet. a cheap 17" is possible too. but for that price you could get a nice 19" crt.

No shes just uses Her computer for browsing the net, Email, and basic photo editing nothing fancy.

I told her about the size vs cost ratio but she likes the LCD better.

I went from a 19" Monitor that took up my whole desk to a 15" Samsung LCD and I love mine. At first i considered it small, but if you use a laptop or anything, you won't notice much difference since you can really pull this one close and still have a good picture. :)

Hmmm... I wouldn't get an LCD unless you NEED an LCD (or just have money to burn)... While $250 can get you a rather nice CRT monitor, it'll only get you a bottom of the line, 15 inch LCD... I'd personally rather have a top of the line 17" monitor or a nice 19" monitor for the same money.. Ask yourself why you want the LCD and what you do with your computer... If you watch videos or game then you can't even consider an LCD at that budget.. If you just browse the web and use it for productivity apps then a 15" LCD would be fine.. But why bother unless you really need the desk space? Remember, you can always pull your desk a little forward and let the tube stick out a bit to minimize a monitor's footprint..

Ahhh, but I do play games on my 15" LCD. I'm typically an avid gamer when i get home from work. And I didn't spend a fortune on my LCD. Some people say you can see a difference while playing games in the LCD and the CRT's. But actually, if you go to a big LAN party you'll notice a lot of people have them.

Trust me, you will not notice the difference aside from when moving them from desk to desk. I like having the extra room on mine though for my laptop and stuff. I guess it does sort of depend on what you have plans to do. Do you LAN? Do you have to move PC's a lot? Do you have a cluttered desk and looking to utilize your space a little better?

Well I bought the 15" NEC from Sams Club and it is great!!

But I learned from them (Actually a guy that works there) Told me we have a 6 month return policy on computers and monitors SO he said buy it now and use it for 5 or so months bring it back for a return and by that time we'll have a 17" for the same price.

I asked at the front desk before I left and they confirmed yes we have a 6 month return policy if your not satisfied. Well I guess I'll use this for awhile then upgrade to a 17" hehe :D:beer:

And yes I know its wrong to do that but hey maybe I won't be satisfied in 6 months and not like it anymore. :D:beer:

In this case I hope you listen to my advice.

I just don't think 15" LCD's are that great unless you get an AWESOME price ... go for the 19" CRT for $150.

NEC, black, brand new, what more do you need?
