Update Moto G from Android 4.4.4 to 5.1?

Should I update my Moto G XT1028 from Android 4.4.4 to 5.1? I bought this Verizon prepaid phone in June when they were on sale. I'm only using it as a toy and not a phone.

Edit: I see bad reports here on the forum for 5.1. Has 5.1 improved any at all?

Don't do it. Android 5.x is a huge bug-ridden mess which is why 6.x was released so early.

I have the original moto x and 5.1 made my battery life insane. Id do it.

If you do decide to update it be prepared to do a factory reset. I have yet to come across a 5.x update that didnt need a factory reset.

There was nothing early about Marshmallow, or the 6.x version number.

5.1 is fine.

I've done it on my XT1028 WiFi toy. No factory reset needed. Everything went smoothly. Battery life is crazy good, though it was on 4.4.4 as well.

Absolutely yes. My wife has this same phone and after the update it is more responsive, more multitasking and longer battery life. So go for it.
