Just make one phone call to the local press, tell them what happened. Local papers usualy LOVE going after big companies.

"Local man gets threatened by logging company"

Ya if took one swing, there was good size cresent(sp?) wrench of stainless steel behind me. Math question. If I can throw a baseball over 70 miles an hour, how big of a dent could I leave on a grown mans head with a cresent wrench?

<< JAYDEE, Take a bug sprayer and mix up some suger water(lots of suger)and spray it on the trees they are going to cut down, The bugs will love it............ >>

<< Just go stick a bunch of ten penny nails into all of the big trees... >>

It 's not our property though. Plus I'm guessing they got some darn good lawyers or else he wouln't have done anything to start with.

<< Honestly dude i don't think it's worth the >>

I agree

<< Yup thats the solution, take down their website and replace it with gay pr0n >>

If I did anything it would be this way, but they don't have a website, otherwise I'd have some fun ;) (Man, I didn't know their phone # listed on their website goes to a phone sex place?).

The Loggers got really nice really fast Except for one started smack with me one day than I Kicked in the balls & Waited for the next truck to pass & Than demanded there boss... than they were all nice.... Well This probably wont help, but I Hope it does.

Dude... you've got a real world problem here. Do you really want to do this the right way or just whine about it?

As hungrypete said, get a survey done, have a lawyer write up a letter to the logging company, and quit treating this thing like a game.

Living in Oregon. I can say that basicaly loggers = assholes.

They don't care who (or WHAT) they hurt, as long as they make their $$$.
They don't care if ANY thing is left for future generations. (or anything of importance at least) (read OLD GROWTH)

Yes that?s right! I'm a tree hugger!!

Here is a little trick I learned as a Jet Aircraft Mech. The Pilots used to do this if they wanted to stay over someplace past their "time"

Take a Cig. filter and unscrew a hydraulic line. Place said filter in the line and then hook everything back together. Will drive them NUT'S trying to figure out what?s wrong!

Another nice trick. (though it works best in non diesel engines) Take some powdered graphite and dump it into the distributor cap, shake well and replace. The spark will go EVERYWHERE except where it should go. :)

Thing is, I'm just the 17 year old son. It's my dad's property, my dad's call, and he just wants to ignore it, and let it go away. Did I mention the guy who came over was the head of the logging company too. It's a (blank) & (blank) Company, and he's one of the 'blanks'. Again these guys undoubtly have top, top lawyers, they could get out of anything anyway in all likelihood. Especially if its just a 'three finger hit' and a threat. We're just poor farmers getting trampled on, there's not much we could do. I'm a realist, thats what would happen like it or not. I'm sorry if this is regarded as 'whinning', I just wanted to vent some steam.

I say you need to figure out how to infect him with a nasty case of Pretender's worms. (Reference Here)

Just imagining the look on his face when he "expels" them would be priceless.

I didn't mean to hammer you or anything.... I feel your frustration. If your Dad isn't willing to do anything, then you can't expect to much out of the whole situation.

This much is true, the decisions you make today are a lot different from those you'll make 15-20 years from now.

Good Luck

that guy just committed Assault and Battery on your father. You have the perfect right to go to the police. You need to start a file on this even if it does not send the guy to jail. mount

The thing is, he shouldn't have to do the survey, the person whose land is being logged should do it. A survey costs $$ that he shouldn't have to spend.

UPDATE:
The actual dispute over the property line was, that we only bordered a few acres with the guy who was getting the timber towed. The main section that boardered them is owned by my Uncle. My Uncle called them a few days ago to tell them that where they were logging, is owned by HIM, NOT my dad. The daughter of the jerk noted above, told him "No you don't I've checked all the files.... blah blah blah" in a very inappropiate tone of voice (yeah the whole family/company is full of jerks), and he said OK, whatever. Now they finally find out that it IS owned by my uncle they try to blame it my dad for 'not telling him'. Note that all the BS is brought out by the logging company, and not our neighbors. So anyway, my uncle (~6'4) will walk HIS line tomarrow with them. The police have been notified of their meeting tomarrow to somewhat keep an eye out. Another note, he mistakenly stopped at my dads, mothers house this morning, and cut through her yard to get to our house quicker. What an a-hole. I'm pushing my dad hard for some editorials to go out this week. I'll let you know as things develop.

Negotiate with them. If they want to use your roads to get access to adjacent property, ask for $1500, up front. Their right-of-way agent will probably write a check on the spot. That is a pretty standard deal in these situations.

All the roads are public though.

I doubt it. Besides with the lawyers a large logging firm could afford compared to a small crop farmer...

Thanks. Yeah, just nothing 'legally'. He'll probably send out an editorial about these guys in a few newspapers, but yeah, thats about it.
