unfortunatly i cant host pics here currently so you have to look here at my thread over at the hardforums complete with pics.I cant do any temp testing as of yet since my top has cracked due to being torqued to much from d-tek but its not their fault the thing is poly so what do you expect LOL. But once my new top comes in ill have this updated with new temps vs. my old temps and from the looks of it i feel like i may run slightly cooler now.
as for anyone looking for a damn good amd block (other than the white water or cascade) take a look at the TC-4 it beats the maze3 pretty damn good and should even do better than the maze4 ! but what do you guys think?

Nice, I'm sure you were nearly tempting fate by drilling those holes so far.
Must have some excellent judgement and very accurate tools to be able to get so thin a base !

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of depth control on the drill thingy right?

I wouldn't have the balls to do that.

Use of a micrometer is king :)
ive got access to pretty much a full machine shop but for something this small i decided to test out my dremal drill press :) great for very small work.
Cheap goose there is a depth guage setting for the press its self if i would have been off a little more it would have been right thru the block.
but now im just waiting on a new top since the stock poly is cracked and i dont wanna risk my rig to a 20 dollar part screwing up.

And MonkeyDriveExpress thank you i spent a while lapping it i stopped at 1500 because i was satisfied with what i got. if i wasnt then i would have gone to 2000 grit then for the final lap i woulda used cigarette ask (yes cigarette ash works great as a final)

Not to be a n00b or anything, but I'm guessing dimpling just gives the water more copperage to flow past - therefore lower temps? Or am I missing the point?

nice job on the wb. i've been running a tc-4 rev.2 myself, and just got my cascade a couple days ago, but the temps were 1-2 C higher than the tc-4! i was gonna reseat the block a few times to see if that would do the trick, but i was still a little shocked. unfortunately, when i turned on my pc today, my antec 480tb ps blew so i won't get to check on the temps until i get a replacement ps.

no youve got the point some what how ever :)
i dimpled the block to make the water more turbulent...in water cooling the more turbulence you can pull the better the block will perform. the dimples not only added turbulence to the channels...more so than the copper coils added but they also alow the wate to flow even closer to the heat source in the center....which is why the center chanel is dimpled with smaller dimples and is much denser than the out side channels.
so what i tried to do was add as much turbulence as i could and see if i could help the heat get to the water faster by getting rid of some of the base thickness........hey it worked for cather lets hope it works here LOL
also my new top should be in thrusday or so, so i should have an update with temps :)

as can be read over at the hard forum my new top for this block came in early so on went a fresh application of ceramique and a fresh batch of coolant well got some milky water at first due to the water wetter trying to foam up and the turbulence in my res...which was solved by putting the blue foam filter from my eheim in it LOL

however onto my results with this bad boy, a load temp of 107f (41c) from my previous high of 116f (46c) a difference of 9 degrees f (about 5 degrees c) was acheived.
and my idle temps are now 89f (31c) from my previous 95f (35c) a difference of 6f (4c) was also acheived...........not to bad for a little bit of work on both the drill press and lapping :)
I guess those little dimples helped alot !
but it probably wont let me OC any higher :p

Nice mod. I wish I could do that to my TC-4 :) Have you seen DodgeViper's mod at overclockers forum? I believe he added a 3rd inlet barb in the middle and dimpled the area above the core. This was a while ago so I don't remember much.
