I need to know if its worth getting this stuff:

1- Do i really need a motherboard with DDR2? I see a 939 mobo that runs with ddr memory which i have. I found another motherboard, but it needs ddr2. Is there a big performance increase with it?

2- PCI-E. Is it good to have a motherboard with a pci-e 1x slot plus a pci-e 16x slot?

3- Radeon X800 128MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card- Is it much better than my old AGP radeon 9700 pro 128mb??

i cant back myself up with true hard facts exactly but i can back myself up with experience and ddr2 is significantly faster and more reliable. Get a motherboard with a pci x16 as it is the new standard for video cards. Your 9700pro is extremely slow..my 150 dollor 7600gt is around 4 times faster atleast...not to mention the ability to run the newer direct x. so the answer to the x800 being better is a deffinit yes. I wouldnt upgrade to an x800 though i would look at a x1900 pro instead

Let's slow down a little.

What's your current PC?
What do you want to use this upgraded system for?
How much do you want to spend?

My current pc:
amd xp 64 3000+ 754
aopen ak86-l motherboard
1gb of ram
9700 pro radeon died. Currently running on geforce 3

thats about it.

And the new system will be run acouple games. Mostly Sony's Planetside and Half life 2 mod FF (TFC)

Im only trying to spend 180

The newegg combo is 99.. so itll be like 101 shipped for the mobo and cpu.

Now the rest is left over for the video card. So that leaves like 78ish for a video card. Im not trying to buy a $300 card lol. Im trying to use NEWEGG only for everything. So if you could find the best open boxed(refurb) video card for that price go head please . IF you can find a better retail/oem card on newegg for that price please list it.

thanks

Have fun overclocking the new setup. :) I've got that same mobo, and the abundant voltage settings and the .5 incremented multipliers make it easy to find the sweet spot.
