I'm planning to get this car in about 2 months and just wondering how much I should pay for this.

I want the manual transmission, sports package, xenon headlight, bose package and the denim blue color.

I've checked carsdirect.com and it said the invoice price with all that is $27,417. I have a friend who said he could get me the car for $500 above invoice. Is this a good deal? Thanks.

UPDATE I may be able to get the AUDI for $23K-24K because I just found out that my friend works for Volkswagon and is able to get one at the employee price. He's only able to do it about once every 6 months. Now I'm thinking if I should get the 3.0 version since he said he could get it for me for about $27K-28K. Damn...decisions, decisions.

You're going to be hard up to get it for $500 over, especially since Denim Blue is THE hottest color they have.

Well...that's what he said he could get it for me for so I'm guessing this is a good price, no?

Is your friend in sales or have some connections with a dealer? If not, I think $500 over is a pipe dream on this particular car.

Hey! You can't get one, that's my car!

I got mine back in December though.

'03's are rolling out in late August, so something tells me they're pushing the '02's pretty heavily.

Remember that invoice isn't always dealer price. Find out what dealer pays, add 5-7%, and figure that's a good deal.

SPECTACULAR cars :)

edit: denim blue is the BEST color ever. but with sports and xenon and bose AND quattro, it'd be quite a steal to get it around 27K...

Any pics of the 03s? What's the price difference between the 03s and 02s?

Look at an '02 (for instance mine

the '03's look the same :)

minor option changes. dunno if you hang out at audiworld.com but you can search their 2002 A4 forum and see lots of links to descriptions of changes for 2003

figure '03 pricing to be about 2-4 % higher than current

$500.00 over actual dealer invoice is an excellent price on a hot selling model such as this one. Go for it!

Nothing hot about a 2002 when the 2003 is just around the corner!

Well, here's some things to consider...

You could just have a better sound system installed in your car for the same price you get the Bose for... I've always thought of the sound system as one of the first things to deoption. But that's one way to save to get the car for less. Not to mention a lot of people on this board don't really like Bose that much.

Also, a typical car nut like me would probably buy & install my own suspension components & wheels anywho... but the Sport package seems like a good deal nonetheless.

Ae you going for a sunroof? That's one option I wouldn't forego if I could afford it.

You try explaining that to the Audi dealer. :D;)

I don't know if anyone has brought this up, but you might want to rethink that Bose sytem. You can get a MUCH better aftermarket system. And the biggest problem with a factory Bose system is it is not standard connections, so if you decide you want something aftermarket later on, you have to replace the entire system at once. Just a thought.

I was thinking the same thing but since I could get the system at or a little above invoice, it seems that I would get a better deal with it on.

You also save yourself installation costs, and your stereo is not a target for thieves. I used to have an aftermarket system, but it was too much of a hassle so I just bought the premium sound system for my latest car.

Yea, but like I said, if you ever want to replace it, you have to replace the entire system, you can't just switch out a component.

Very true, they are much lower profile...but they just don't sound quite as good.

You'd be hard up to put in a decent sound system for $550. Bose actually does a halfway decent job on the sound systems in luxury cars. It's quite a bit better than what they put into say Chevy Impala or a Nissan Altima. You get more speakers, more power, and a better head unit. They actually aren't that bad. It's also nice to be covered under the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty incase there are any problems with it.

the denim blue is a nice color and it look great on the A4. A beautiful car, IMHO.

No No... Silver is THE hottest color for an A4 ;)... j/k... Denim is a real sweet choice. Anyway, I think that if you can actually get it @ that price then go for it.

About the Bose system... sure its no dual 15" subs in the back and 4way 6x9's and some bad a$$ head unit... but its a damn fine factory sound system... It came in 4th place in factory sound systems @ a recent round up by Edmunds (i think it was edmunds). Anyway, if you can get the bose for a good price then I would go for it... I guess its just a matter of personal taste though...

So, anyway, good luck and keep us updated!
