UPDATE: I Still Have My Job, And They Are Off My Back!

It came down to them not having any sort of actual reason or precedent to try and get rid of me, other than their personal reasons. Basically, there is no danger of me losing my job anymore, and they are treading lightly for fear of a harrassment suit being brought against them for their recent actions.

Funny, really, as I got the news last night, but before I went to to work, I was compiling a list of my debts and figuring out the best way to eliminate them if I managed to keep my job through the end of the Summer. I am going to follow through with it anyway, which will help me towards my eventual goal of quitting and returning to school full time and getting a degree or three. ;)

Awesome, just fricking awesome!! :D:D:D Glad to hear you beat the "system"!

*edit* paper trail, keep every piece of paper concerning your case--you want a paper trail in case they try again, been there, done that and like you, survived!

Excellent news, SGSteve! :)

And that harrassment suit is a nice little trick to have in your bag just in case things get ugly again, too. ;)

Great News! :D

Just watch your back. Some people can be very vindictive. :Q

And I agree. Keep all documentation off-site and in a safe place. :)

Congrats SS! :D

Going back to school some years ago was one of the best things I've ever done. Not that the degree was that important (but didn't hurt), but the satisfaction in completing my degree gave me the self-confidence necessary to succeed in other areas in life. :)

That's great news Steve. However like others have said, look out. It's like having all eggs in one basket now. Maybe you can use this time to search and find a better job in addition to going back to school. Any sign of trust is broken there on both sides.

One of the first questions TechTV asked me was if I felt I was a valuable employee. A couple of things, for a long time I was the only employee at that location, second, yes, I cleaned up and got the whole Network and every device humming. Once that happened and then easily maintained I was no longer that valuable to them so time to bring in the rookies at lowest pay again. I don't smoke and not into breaks. I did not go out of my way and use Company time to install the DC project. Another sad foot note is I went to work at the school to get back in the school environment in the hopes of getting a degree or three as well. Closest I got was I taught students and they went, took and passed the tests and got their degrees while I still am paperless.

Heh, I am a long way from even getting close to that, but I can dream. ;) Oh, imagine the SETI@Home crack racks I could make with a salary like that! :Q
