I just got off the phone with Comcast and they explained to me if I discontinue using their cable television my internet access goes up to $61 a month. Well that's just too much for what little I do at home. As much is I like the speed I just don't want to pay over $45 a month for it.

Update:
I just got off the phone with Comcast to cancel my service and they counter offered basic cable and High Speed internet for less that just internet service, $55 per month.

Now this is a price I can live with. 😀 Time for a :beer:

Moved to the country 3 months ago and had to say bye bye to cable...Thanks goodness work is high speed(but that don't help my mmorpg addiction, er "previous" mmorpg addiction)

You hardly made a deal. When Comcast bought ATTBI, my cable internet fees went up from $49/mo to $59/mo. At the same time, they started trying to sell me cable TV, saying that cable internet would only be $42/mo if I also subscribed to cable TV. So I got basica cable TV for $12/mo, and now I pay less for TV + Internet than I did for just internet. They do the exact same thing for everyone else.

Yep, I told them I could afford there new rate and I was going to quit using it.

hows that work? Im gonna need to get cable internet and basic cable in a couple of months and need to know the process.
