You can always replace the satellites later on (or upgrade your fronts & move your old ones to the back, etc.).

I would get a better receiver.

I would personally get better speakers. The technology in recievers is getting better and cheaper. Speakers pretty much remain steady.

I love stereos, I would cross the harman kardon off your list, they are nice, but low power and somewhat expensive. I have the Yamaha RXV620 it is great I wish pro logic II was around when I got mine. Right now you might want to consider Denon 2803 it just came out, my dad has the 3802 and It is excellent. I might get yelled at for this one, but honestly surround speaker quality isn't terribly important. I rarely even notice them, unless there is something huge like explosions, or maybe on DVD audio and that sort of thing. I think a receiver should probably come first.

imo, always upgrade to the best speakers you can afford. a good set will make your bad receiver sound good ;)

Check this out:

Refurb Onkyo SR600 receiver + 5.1 speaker setup for $500. Great value, IMO.

In your speaker brand listing I'd add http://www.axiomaudio.com (they're similar in price to all those I'm guessing)..do some reviews, they'll beat all those brands you listed for the same price, hands down. Do some searching for reviews of their products, there is never a bad one.

My setup is the Pioneer VSX811 receiver and 2 Klipsch quintets (off of E-Bay) as surrounds. For fronts and center, I got Ascends.
