This is a followup to my previous thread.
7/31/03: I went down to Best Buy after the Sony rep called and said that Sony would not get involved. I had my TV reciept, my Performance Service Plan reciept, before and after pics of my tv, and the paperwork from Gabe's Electronics concerning the pickup/delivery of my TV. I explained to the manager, Melissa, exactly what happened and how I was treated by Gabe when I talked to him. She said that Best Buy would probably replace my TV and said she would call by 6pm the next day once she got approval from the higher powers at BB. I was a little suspicious b/c she seemed like she was being too nice and didn't ask to confirm my phone number when she said she would call (she said the number was already printed on the reciept); I might have been making too much out of this since I was still suspicious of everyone involved after speaking with Gabe.
8/01/03: Melissa hadn't called back the next day so I called her at 8pm. She said that she hadn't heard from whoever needed to approve this and that she would call back on Monday, 8/04/03 to set up a delivery time and everything.
8/05/03: No call, from Best Buy so I went back to the store and spoke with another manager. He said that Melissa had "personal stuff" come up and that he would handle my case instead. He went back to make a call about my case and came back saying he could issue store credit for my original price and I could use that towards the purchase of a new one. I explained to him that I paid $400 for the TV there is no way I could an equivalent replacement for that price.
1: I got it on sale and paid $400 instead of $550.
2: Sony discontinued my TV and Best Buy no longer has it in stock.
They did have the newer version of my TV and he agreed to give me that instead of credit for the price I originally paid. He said they would deliver it to my apartment and that the Performance Service Plan would roll over from my old TV to my new one.
8/11/03: Best Buy delivery guys showed up (on time even) with my TV. They were really nice and helped me take it out of the box and put it on my TV stand.
They took my old TV. I was hoping I would be able to keep it but oh well.
So now I have a new 27" Wega. I liked the look of my
old TV more than my new one (the blue corners are from the packaging tape which I hadn't removed), but I now have two component inputs instead of just one.
