update: i can now afford the best CPU Block for a MCP355 Pump

whats a good block (thats hopefully upgradable) for my current LGA775 Q6600?
my cpu has a low VID of 1.2125 and i'd like to get it to 3.5-3.6ghz @ 1.4 vCore

budget is under $85.

my pump is MCP355 + XSPC res Top... all other WC parts purchased already, so this is my part probably

Koolance CPU 350 ~ 80-90$
EK-Supreme LT 49$

I've seen benchmarks over on XS forums that include these two chips on an i7 and the difference is about 1-2*c

The KL scored an average of 69*c
The EK scored an average of 70*c

If you plan on upgrading to i7 an CPU fairly quickly, go for one of the new blocks. Otherwise, an Apogee GT or Fuzion will handle any socket 775 chip you throw at it.

IMHO, everyone jumping on the KL-350/GTZ bandwagon is wasting money if they already have a decent block. Until I see a direct comparison of these new blocks vs. the older Apogee GT/Fuzion on the i7 platform and I see a LARGE improvement in temps, I'm staying put because from the numbers I've seen the price isn't worth the minimal gains.

shows the GT about 5c hotter than the EK Supreme

1. Between the fuzion v2 and the GTZ, which do you guys think would be better to cool a Q6600?

link doesn't work

the GTZ is 69$ and performs worse than the EK Supreme LT @ 49$ which you can use on the 1366 socket and will pair up perfectly with your 355 which is meant for high preasure blocks like the EK and Koolance 350

That link shows a mere 2c from Apogee GT to the GTZ. Even if it is a 5c difference from the EK Supreme, if he already has an apogee GT, it is a waste to spend more $ on yet another block to just for a POSSIBLE gain of 5c.

well i can sell the apogee gt since i didin't use it yet. anybody want it brand new unused for $30 shipped?

i came upon some funds so i can now get a better block. so i'll have no regrets later on.

the EK Supreme LT doesn't have many reviews comparing it to the fuzion v2

i'm currently favoring the v2 because:
-cheaper than the gtz in most all places by at least a few bucks
-higher flow in case i want to add either NB or GPU

Many will tell you if you have a Fuzion V1, there is no point in upgrading to a V2. Furthermore if you have an Apogee GT there is no point in upgrading to the FuZion. With that said and those lines drawn, IMHO, i'd run the Apogee GT and save your $ for other things. I've been though a few blocks and I've not seen any great noticeable gains between them. Also, ~2c is still within the margin of error to me.

I still keep pestering anyone I know with an i7 rig to toss on some of these older blocks and see how they stack up agains these new offerings. Sadly, I haven't had any takers yet.
