Well, I'm in the process of building a new barebones, and have selected all the parts from newegg, trying to keep costs around $300. So how do these look to you guys?

Case: Enermax Model CS-003-A106USB (w/ 300W enermax PSU)

Mainboard: Epox 8RDA+

RAM: KINGSTON KVR333X64C25/512 512MB 32x64 PC2700 DDR RAM

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2000+/266 FSB Processor CPU - Retail 2000+/ 1.67GHz

Go for the 2100+ or the 1700+, they are Thoroughbred (probably B) processors, and overclock like nothing, with most hitting 2GHz (XP2400+) and often higher!

Other than that, it looks a nice setup :)

Not bad. As confused said, consider the TBred 1700+. I just got the Tbred B 1700+ from NewEgg for $51 shipped and it hits 2.0ghz at 12x166 at default voltage. It is running on a 8rda with a thermalright ax-7 and maxes out at 43C under full load.

Yep, I agree. With PC2700 and either a 2100+ or 1700+ on an nForce2 board, your expectations should be stock multiplier x 166MHz = new clock speed. The 2100+ T-bred B (13x166=2167) does this with ease, and it sounds like the newer 1700+'s do as well. I haven't seen any new info on the 2000+'s, so I'm not sure if they are T-bred B's or not. Even if you don't plan on overclocking, getting a CPU known to have T-bred B versions is a better idea simply because the Rev. B's run cooler at the same stock speeds as a Rev. A or Palomino (which there's a good chance you'd get with a 2000+).

I'm actually getting a 1700+ from Newegg as well; should have it by Wednesday. I'm testing it for my bro, but I'll probably end up keeping it if it clocks as well or better than my 2100+ (2380MHz). He'll get the 2100+ as the 13x stock multi will be better suited for his mobo (8KHA+ and PC2100).
