UPDATE - Help! Bad CPU show as mem read errors?

I have just bought some new PC2700 sticks and shoved them in my KG7. Been mucking around pushing the CPU, as usual, and bumped it to 1.6Ghz.

Now I get 'memory cannot be read' at any speed (including stock) when running Prime95 and Video Editing. Default voltages and high latency settings help me not.

Tried my old PC2100 and get the same result. Can believe that went bad too.....

Is this a side effect of a busted CPU?

Bloody anonying, as I have just finished editing a video and can't commit it to Disc!!:frown:

I don't think the RAM busted...at least not so soon. Try reseating the RAM 1st. Then go to bios & "load default settings".

Post back result.

Reseated each of my 3 sticks. Booted with each stick on it's own and each time got the same result. Prime bombs on startup.

Will try defaults but not looking good....

Aack! A KG7. The only time I had a stick of RAM die was in an Abit KG7-RAID. Was a Crucial 256MB PC2100. Still sitting in my desk drawer, to be RMA'd someday.

If anything killed the RAM or the proc, it was me, not the stunning KG7. I have been overclocking and overvolting for 18 months.

The CPU is a 1Ghz Tbird AXIA, and it may just be it's last few hours...🙁

If tht ols man (T-bird) still POST...it has more than a "few" hrs. So, u still get RAM errors ? Got anything on RAMtest ?

MemTest-86 just completed and got 100% pass...

Is the CPU dying on me? Sure feels like it.

BOOMSHANKA!!!! Machine alive and well!!

The problem? My old Seagate Drive popped due to the high PCI clock. Never mind, lost no data and it's an old 8Gb disk anywho.
