I just finished playing a couple of hours of tribes 2 and i opened my case to feel my cpu temp ( i dont have a way to measure cpu temp on my mobo) Anyway i felt my graphics card and the whole thing was hot heatsink and all, what is a good way to cool the graphics card also can you overclock you graphics card it is a 32 mb geforce 2 nvdia

Check out 2cooltek.com they have a complete cooling kit for Geforce cards. It has memory heatsinks along with the GPU cooler.
 
2cooltek still stocks that copper 'GPU cooler" which will knock the socks off a Blorb anyday. Also, Millisec
Has a pretty swank little copper GPU cooler, and some numbers to boot.
Remember though, that you will lose the PCI slot right underneath the AGP, so make sure you have enough expansion left! =)
 
If space is an issue, use the FAC08 from KDComputers. It's small, but it does a pretty good job, especially when you ditch the thermal adhesive and use arctic silver and a little epoxy. 😎
 
Space is not an issue i cant imagine anything i will need. If i do need a slot i will take out my modem AHH the wonders of DSL.
 
I found the aluminum Alpha 55mm HSF @ Millisec cools better than the copper one..I pair it with a 50mm 20CFM Top Motor fan for some serious cooling.

Hi there.

Blue Orbs(blorb) are excellent except that their contact surface needs to be lapped very much to get a good even surface contact. Not very hard to do with some really fine sandpaper... just takes a very long time due to how uneven they are right out of the box.

Also, don't forget to get some Arctic Silver II heatsink compound when you get the blorb.

BLORBs suck, they don't transfer the heat better than other HSF at millisec and 2cooltek.com. The only good thing about orb is the color and bragging rights other than that Get a 50mm Cu HSF if you want some real mod job done for the GPU.
 
i really dont want to glue a heatsink and fan to my video card though
i have a couple of plastice pegs holding the heatsink on. i also have 4 holes around the heatsink. can i use the copper heatsink cooler with the 4 holes? i fgured the blorb would go with the holes holding the heatsink on.
 
They can hold anything withing its own weight. Actually i've seen ppl put Alpha PAL15's on their Cards GPU so i'm pretty sure a Cu Video Card HSF from 2cooltek.com or Millisec will hold well enough.
 
Ive got a blue orb on my Asus GF2MX. I lapped it to a (near) mirror finish, and just the the supplied thermal paste. It allowed me to overclock the card to 220MHz core 210MHzmem. I could probably overclock it further but that is the maximum the registry hack allows.

Dont dismiss the power of the blue orb

Well It is a toss up i cant decide between the blue orb and the Millisec 50 mm Cu hsf. Reasons i like the blue orb: looks cool, looks like an easy install, blue orb is a little quieter. Reasons for the Millisec Cu HSF: Performance, i can pick differnt fans.
The only thing i am concerend about is the install on the Millsec i am not going to glue it to the gpu, that means i would have to drill holes in the HSF. Any thoughts?
 
Why would you have to drill holes? You want it to stay on then use the Articsilver EPOXY they sell, nothing can beat that bond plus artic silver transfering the heat and keeping the temps at nice levels. Its the best combo.
 
Just wanted to thank everybody for their input i went with the Blue orb because of cost and ease of installation. If performance is not there i will try the millisec copper hsf.
I also got some AS2 and lapped my blue orb

Here is an idea I discovered that will work on any Video card to affix a beefier heatsink.

Many people affix small socket 7 CPU coolers to thier Video cards, Many knuckleheads recommend using two drops of superglue on the corners and arctic silver paste to finish it off.

Here is my idea that I actually use and its a much better solution.

Simply OMIT using the superglue on the two corners and replace that with Arctic Silver adhesive on FOUR corners and use regular Arctic silver thermal paste on the rest of the chip.....Removal is a snap should you ever want to remove the heatsink.(simply place the Videocard in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 30 minutes and the Heatsink will pop right off)
