**Update** Got Court in about 2.5 hours for a Parking Ticket

Is it legal to give a parking ticket at 10:04pm ?

I had a Parking Permit and received a parking ticket anyways. I am going to court in a lil bit to contest it.

Hopefully the judge will be on my side.

Btw it's for $20 bucks. I know it's not much.. but why should I pay it when I had my parking permit in clear view.

Any Advice ?

The person who gave me the ticket was out on disability. I'm sure he got hurt giving out tickets at 10pm.
 
If that parking permit allows you to park exactly where you were parked when ticketed, AND the permit was valid (not expired) then you win.

I'm a student. Currently waiting for a call back to become a driving instructor. UPS is still on consideration.


 
Good luck - should be pretty easy to fight, since you can display your permit and stuff. Too bad you didn't take pictures of the scene of the "crime." Then it'd be clear-cut.

It's a residential parking permit. It's good anywhere in town. The explanation on the ticket was that my car didn't have the permit when in fact it did.
I've been parking in the same spot for the 3 months I had my new car. With the same permit. I had no problems before.
The only other ticket I've received was a Parking Ticket I received outside of my school about 3 years ago. ( Forgot about street sweeping )

Well the street I park my car in isn't that well lit. It's pretty dark.
The ticket I received was in November. at 10 PM~!!!
The permit is white and black ( about 80% being black ) it's a hang tag. My car has tint, but not in the front windshield.

 
So the parking permit allows you to park on said street until 10pm? They gave you a ticket at 10:04 pm? Sounds technically legal, but I bet you could argue your way out of that one. One thing though... when did you actually come out to your car? If the ticket was written at 10:04 but you didn't actually find it until you went to your car 11pm (just picked a time), then I'd say you earned the ticket according to the rules.

[EDIT] So the permit is for any time of day?

No Residents get special permits to park. I can park for as long as I want.
I live right next to the City. So we have a lot of cars going in and out of my town.
I got the ticket cuz they said that I didn't have one displayed when that's total BS.


 
Hell, just take your permit in, slap it down, and you win. Well, you should anyway. Just claim the permit was where it should be and you don't know why you got the ticket. The judge may not believe you and think you forgot to use your permit, but I bet you will still get out of the ticket.

I don't see why he shouldn't believe me.... They issue a permit for each car for town residents.
ahh well.. hopefully the judge won't make me pay for it.

Who in their right mind goes out at 10pm ticketing cars on residential streets ? ( it wasn't given by a PoPo ) But parking authority. I thought they get off at 5pm.

$20 isn't much ... I could pay if I did make a violation... BUT I DIDN'T
So why should I pay it ?
 
dont pay it dude, go to court, and show your permit, i am sure they can check the date you purchased your permit. and if it's before the day you got the ticket, you win. nobody buys permits to stick them in their asses... i hope the judge wont be an idiot... goodluck.

we don't have to purchase permits.. it's given free. But we do have to fill out forms.
It's free for residents and they charge people from out of town.

I'm gonna go to court at 4pm .... Hearing is at 5pm but I wanna get there early so I'm not the last one to see the judge.
