I found this blurb at boxinginsider :

The following was posted by Team Quest. Boxinginsider.com has an interview scheduled with Randy Couture later on this week.

Randy would like to thank everyone who has expressed concern for him and the condition of his eye. He is pleased to be able to let everyone know that the injury does not seem to be of the nature that would keep him away from the sport for long. He received 5 stitches in his upper lid and 3 in the lower lid. These are scheduled to be removed in 7 days at which point Randy will evaluate how quickly he can start training again. If things go as expected, he may be training in as few as 10 days!

For those in the know, I think this is fabulous news. Glad to see he is okay and I hope to see him take on Belfort again real soon!

Peace

Yeah it was a grazing blow.

It really ticked me Off that it ended that way. But hey it happens. Hopefully they will have a rematch soon.

Edit: but this is great news! glad to know this wont keep him from fighting.

Bump for the late 'nooners.

BTW, I think that Zuffa(UFC owners) now has at least one major sponsor in Miller beer, which is a very good thing. I have heard that the UFC's were losing a good bit of money and that the better fighters(like Tito) were either holding out or going to Japan. This UFC at least had some good fights in it . Now the next two of them should really kick it good: You got Tito fighting Chuck Liddell and then there is the Belfort /Couture rematch and maybe even BJ Penn/ Matt Hughes rematch. Good stuff coming down just in time to bail them out.

The thing is, Corture and Belfort are two class acts. They're both very humble, esp. Captain America. I can't wait for that re-match. However I was not looking forward to their match as much as I was BJ Penn VS Matt Hughes. Now that fight was awesome.

Is Pride still sending fighters to the next UFC? there's a rumor that Sakuraba is coming over.

Dana White wants Saku to fight in the UFC. Its still in negoations for Fujita and Saku to fight at the Las Vegas show. Pride at the same time is trying get fight set up between Saku and Frank Shamrock for future Pride Show.

Vitor went on record stating he wants to fight Wanderli Silva to unify the Pride belt and the UFC belt.

Vitor only glazed him, but if Couture was 1/2 second slower then Randy would of been knocked out. Vitor wanted the fight to be called a no contest but Dana White and Zuffa doesn't want another UFC belt vacant.

Did Matt Hughes take Penn for granted?Jeebus, the kid was all over him like stink on shiat. So many of these fights are adrenaline fueled and that's what makes them so fun to watch. You get a Matt Hughes, unbeatable in most circumstances, who literally gets his ass handed to him on a plate and then you wonder, how the hell he could be beaten. Let alone drilled by a smaller guy.

I am so guilty of saying"He can only lose if he wants to" I used to think that Vitor Belfort was never going to lose and then Randy comes and schools him. I though the same of Matt Hughes. Oh well , I guess thats why they make them fight, huh?

BTW, in relative terms, I think that the Hughes/Penn fight may well be one of the best fights the UFC has ever had.Ive been to four live events and have watched practically all of them, too.

After the fight was over Matt Hughes clearly says that he did not take BJ Penn lightly, AT ALL. He even said on MMAWeekly's radio show that BJ hit him with a right uppercut or a right hook and it almost knocked him out. BJ is just that damn good and that is why his nick name is the Prodigy (only guy to reach a BJJ black belt in three years).

From some of Frank's interviews, he's got some beef with White and he's said he'll never fight for UFC again. Saku vs F Shamrock would likely take place in Pride.

They are still negoitiating? I thought since they sent Liddle and McGee to Pride, I would think that Pride is going to readily send someone over. Fujita would be awesome...no one in UFC can knock that guy out.

How about Hughes vs Sak?

UFC sent over Liddell. I believe McGee is strictly fighting for Pride at the moment. I could be wrong, don't quote me on that.

Pride has yet to send anyone over but I would like to see Belfort VS Vanderlei.

I though that Saku was going to be here at one of these next UFC's.

Liddell fought in one of the Prides about 6 months ago.McGee fought this past weekend against Heath Herring.Didnt catch it on TV,getting too damned expensive with all of these fights and the mixed bag you get with them.

Now, I know that Matt Hughes says he didnt take BJ Penn lightly, and I probably believe him. But I still think he had an attitiude about being able to beat him. He even said in the pre fight interview that he was clearly stronger and would be able to overcome him easily. No big deal, just a pretty shocking outcome.

Like you said nocturnal, BJ is the cream of the crop and they were saying on the telecast that now he may fight his mentor, Renato Verissimo in one of the next UFC's.
