The outer rim of my new Vice City cd is scratched from my crappy dvd drive, its not even worthy of being called a scratch. I have been trying to baby it back to being usable using window cleaner. It has helped some but, to no prevail. I cannot play vice city.
What household objects do you use to get cd's unscratched?

Alright I exchanged my game at wal mart. And i want to make a disk image and use the backup primarily so I dont scratch the origanal. But it has some kind of copy protection. How do I get around this? Is it leagel to make a copy for backup even though it has protection?

If the bastards who made the game didn't put Orwellian protection schemes on the disc, you wouldn't have a problem since making a legitimate backup copy would be as easy as duping a normal audio CD.

Unfortunately, since not enough people write their congresspeople to complain about the illegality of copy protection, this will continue to occur.

If you paypal me $5 I will ship you a CD with an ISO of the disc burned on it.

Edit: CCD actually. I use them with Daemon Tools so I don't have to keep putting the CD in the drive. Works like a charm.

Orwellian protection schemes? Hah!

Wouldn't that be considered selling warez?

No. It's selling a disc with software that he already owns.

I doubt it sucks. Not a single person I know of can back up EA games. Not even my new DVD+RW will do it on a brand new MOA disk.

I think it's some kind of copy protection BS.
