That CPU is $1000+. Change to Q6700 or Q9550.

Zalman cooler is not worth the money, get a Xigmatech HDT-S1283.

Your PSU will need to be replaced. I'd suggest Corsair 550VX or HX520 if you want modular.

Motherboard - P45-based from Asus or Gigabyte.
Hard drive - either Seagate or WD 640GB.

You read similar threads? Really? Did you read the system recommendation thread? A lot of the stuff you are interested in buying is either two-year old cutting-edge stuff that is now overpriced, or just mediocre.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16819115043 $260 Q9300
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820231145 $73 4GB DDR2-1000
Do you need a motherboard? Most people need motherboards
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16813131335 $105 Asus P5Q
CPU Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16835233003 $35 Xigmatec Rifle 120mm
GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814102795 $315 4870 1GB
You complain about the 1GB having only a 256-bit memory bus. Does this actually matter? Link, benchmarks, comparisons?

tHE qx6850 I'm getting at the EPP price of $239 so I would rather get that one. I will lok into the Xigmatech HDT. Does it work very well when overclocking the qx6850 to 3.6-4ghz.

I'm getting the QX6850 for the EPP price, so I rather spend $239 than $260.
For the ram I am wondering what you reasoning is to get the G.Skill over the OCZ if OCZ is worth $47 after rebate?

I had the mobo down, but I guess it didn't post.
I was going to go with a PQ5 Pro but what is the difference between the PQ5 PRO and DELUXE compared to the regular PQ5. I want to overclock this baby so should I get the PQ5 Pro or even the deluxe over the pq5?

No argument with the rest of your recommendations, guess I'll have to get rid of the antec true blue.

What's the EPP price? Can you get it on other CPUs? If you can, get a 45nm quad core over the 65nm one, they're much better chips.

I didn't notice the rebate on the OCZ, sorry. Assuming you get it, that's pretty good.

The P5Q is just as great an overclocker as the others, they'll probably have a few tiny additions in the BIOS and maybe software onboard RAID (ugh) but the vanilla P5Q will do very welll.

That case is quite nice, and there's a very good rebate on for it. If you're happy with the features it offers I'd say it's pretty good.

Regarding your cheap-CPU thing, can you get any 45nm CPUs on it? I'd probably even get a Q9450 if I could, over the QX6850.

Edit: When I said "What's the EPP price?" I meant "What is EPP" but now I recall it is Employee Purchase Price :p.

I could get the 9450 but for some reason I am intent on sticking with the 6850.
Are there any reviews comparing the 2 CPU?

I have now decided to go with the Antec 300 for $40, I'll add 3x120mm fans for another $30 and I should be good to go with the case.
