Update: coroner lied about live organ harvesting homicide

Update to this thread in which ATOTers were claiming live harvesting "happens all the time" and that the doctors reach for a pillow if you sign your donor card.

Fark just linked to this follow-up:
On Tuesday, District Attorney Raynes announced his investigation revealed that at the time Rardin's organs were harvested, he'd been brain dead for more than 24 hours, and the coroner had already released his body for organ harvesting.

"The tests used in this case to reach a determination of brain death are accepted medical standards not only in Colorado, but nationwide," said Raynes. "There was no deviation from well-established protocol. Everything was done correctly."

The coroner didn't comment after Tuesday's announcement. He did, however, issue a statement last week saying his intent in ruling Rardin's death a homicide, was to alert doctors to what he believes are unclear medical standards for declaring someone brain dead.

So the coroner lied as a publicity stunt, and you'll probably keep both kidneys if you end up in the ER with a broken leg.

Do I at least get a bathtub full of ice and note from the doc?
