Question Update cooler for 5800X3D

Iam on 5800X3D and be quit pure rock (not pure rock 2) in fractal design define R5. My temps were quite acceptable (used it really for a short time with few games) before I launched Battlefield 5 and started hitting 90c. I didnt do undervolt yet. I will do and If this will not help enough I will need to improve cooling.

1/ do you please think I can get considerable improvement If I just change fan on my pure rock to be some beast? Something like Noctua NF-A12x25?

2/ If I decide to update cooler completely and go Be Quiet Dark Rock 4 I can keep the MLB mount, right please? At least on pictures it looks same, except color which I dont mind. Or is it even like most/all coolers use same MLB mount for AM4 socket?
If you dont get what I mean please see picture bellow, I beleive I should be able to just take part higlighted in red bellow and instal heatsink on current pure rock MLB mount.

I've been diving into AMD options and looking at parts and it seems some of the hype / marketing pushes towards LC apply the same they did with Intel when ADL got released initially.

If you're hitting 90C then I would double check the paste and probably swap it for a graphite pad instead to set / forget it.

While looking at coolers though Thermal Take Peerless came up time and time again w/ 6-7 pipes ~$40 with decent reviews for even a 7900X. I use a SE226XT right now and for Intel under 100% load it doesn't budge over 70C.

Also, I tend to not use the fans that ship with coolers and swap them for Arctic P12 PWM PST which I pick up in 5-packs for ~$40 on Amazon.. They're quiet and effective along with being able to keep cabling clean since you can daisy chain them with each other.

thanks man, I will have a look, id cooling is availale here.
Just changing fan to Noctua NF-A12x25 would probably not help enough,right please?

It depends on more than just the fan. If it's not 100% seated and there's an air gap you'll get high temps as well. Thus the pad option takes the guess work out of spreading and seating the cooler. I've swapped cases and MOBO's in the last couple of weeks several times and not had any temp issues reusing the same pad. In the past though testing different pastes has resulted in mixed results and one paste that failed within a few days and rocketed temps to 100C w/ just idle use.

Paste / pad
Clamp
Fan orientation / flow

If you're sucking hot air from say the GPU and pushing it through the cooler that's not going to be efficient. If you have bad intake air flow to the case itself then you're likely going to see heat soak issues and inefficient cooling where needed. If you're exhausting out the top of the case it's going to pull heat from the bottom up through the CPU cooler as well and make it sub optimal.

Let me update current decision status
Story for those who interested: I have 5800X3D (currently CO -30 all cores,power limits 120,90,120) using Be quiet Pure Rock cooler which seems not enough as in BF 2042 I hit 82C. Well maybe thats acceptable for the chip? ..but anyway I would like to improve that. I would like to have rather smaller cooler, I ordered ARCTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO but than cancelled the order as I found it doesnt work with my ASUS TUF gaming X570-PLUS MB (would need different backplate). Another in the que was ID-COOLING SE-226-XT BLACK but I also found he has smaller brother.

226 is here 45$, 224 is here 29$, both insane values! 224 is roughly same performance as esport duo and much cheaper,almost half! I dont mind extra 15$ for 226, but I like 224 is smaller, better access to GPU etc. but 226 should cool better? My case is fractal Design Define R5.

What's the temperature in the room the computer is in, approximately? If a processor from the last ten years was running that high while idle in the UK (ambient temp is currently about 21-22C) I'd suspect that the heatsink isn't properly installed, but I don't know what the normal idle temp would be in a hotter country.

The idle temp of my i5-4590k is currently 39C but I believe in colder months it will drop to 35 or below. We're having a pretty mild summer atm.

Having the 226 and putting it under full load testing and maxing out around 50 I just know it works. The 224 should work the same from what I recall. I've also been diving into AMD as an option and the PA120 seems to be a favorite as well to look at.

The main goal when looking at coolers for me is at least 6 pipes to spread the load across for better dissipation of heat. I recently switched cases to the FD Torrent and my idle temps are now low 20's. With the prior case it seems to me they were closer to 30.

82C is not such a bad temp. You are overthinking it. If you can use an extra fan with the existing one in a push-pull config, that might help lower the temps more. You could also try liquid metal thermal paste. I would be surprised if a better cooler is able to lower temps by 5C or more.

man, you are doing my decision harder :), 82C is Bf2042, other games I tried so far is like 70C, I know what you mean no big difference between coolers as also test I shared link but my current cooler really bad and based on test I would expect -10C, adding another fan to push/pull I saw that brings like 1-2C. How about I replace my current 1500rpm fan wuth some 2000rpm beast like Noctua NF-A12x25? Wo we know how many degrees it could bring down?

Iam not worried about 45$ spent but more about reinsllation process when one never know what can happen, heat tubes push somewhere, screws not enough tightened, paste wrongly applied
