Deal for Columbia House members (I think there might be a few of those here now 🙂 ) Before I get into details, this is obviously nowhere near as hot as membership offers but it did look interesting to me:

Columbia House has 2 special deals this month. The first is up to 33% off on DVD sets (like TV seasons). The second is supposed to be buy 1 at regular price, get as many as you want of equal or lesser value at 50% off.

The trick is that you can actually use the discounted multi DVD set as your 'regular price' selection. It's not flaming and I don't know what processing fees are gonna be, but the TV season sets with the 'up to 33%' are possibly cheaper than in stores. Then you can add any regular titles (50% off doesn't apply to multidisc season sets) and get 50% off CH price on those (think special editions and very high priced titles).

An example on the multiset discounts is Sex and the City second season for 26.96 regular 49.95. S&H is about $2 per physical disc, no tax.

Don't flame me on this one cause i know it ain't flaming , but it is probably better than store prices.

Hmmmm.... I'm just starting my collection of DVD's (and suddenly have 2 memberships 😀 )
Anyone have any recommendations of box sets that would be a good deal using this deal?

Will someone who is a member check to see if CH offers Babylon5 Season 1 or Season 2 in this sale? That might make it worth signing up.

That's worth it in itself! I don't have my account number with me right now, but I'll try to look later.
 
Thanks. I'm going to look over the selection tonight. We don't watch many movies, and very few more than once, so when we can rent them for $1-3, is it really worht it to buy them? Still, some, if offered I'd like to own.

They have season 1 but it's not one of the bigger discount ones. Came to 93 dollars including shipping with no tax (they list 'free' next to tax item) charged to RI.

Hmm, that's not any good. It can be found for around $55 in the US, $48 in Canada.

UPDATE:

There is now Free S&H on orders of 3 DVDs or more in addition to previous discounts., however the discounted boxsets don't count as your regular price selection for the 50% off deal. Box Sets also apparently only count as 1 towards this.


For those that want to cancel memberships:
Go to club help, go to membership info in left menu, select cancel account, that's it.

To cancel monthly selection:
Go to director's selection tab on left top of screen, say 'no'


I left one of my 2 accounts open for now just in case I want it some day.
