~~UPDATE~~BOUGHT THE DELL!!! ..... thinking of buying a BIG ASS LCD

You should consider the 19in LCD from Planar if you are buying from Dell. I own the 17.4in model. It has excellent image quality and very little ghosting.

native res of 2000fp is 1600x1200
native res of nec is 1280x1024

i would (did) get the dell..
but that was during a 20% off for dell-branded promotion.

I'd definitely get the dell anyway because of the resolution.

ok dudes.....just bought the dell.......it is SWEEEEET!!!!!

i have a ibmp260 and they are very similar in screen size but the amount of space i save with the dell is unbelievable!!!!!

brb....gotta go test some games on it.....regular 2D is great!!!!!!!!!

ok...palyed a round of CS and i dont know if its my video card or the monitor......maybe i am being to critical because i am consciously checking for something that "might" be wrong.

well anyways, i have a gf2 gts pro....

how cani tell if i have a monitor that ghost....???? can i see active trails? i might just be tripping out here.....for AT'ing..this thing is awesome!!

please lmk all you lcd owners 🙂

For gaming it would be nice if you have an video card with a DVI plug. (Digital Plug) I am thinking that the Screens are true digital. This raised the issue of what setting you plan on playing games at?

Make sure the Digital monitor has a setting for the option you plan to play the game at. LCD's have to adjust to an approximation of a true size when they don't have the set number of pixels to draw the screen. If you plan on playing games at 600 X 800 or whatever buy a flat screen with that option. Look at the plugs on the flat panel before you buy it to see what kind of plug it uses. A DVI plug has both Digital and analog connections(pins). It would be dumb to have to use an adapter plug to go from digital to analog and back to digital, because your video card did not have a DVI plug. Anandtech had an article on this.

If you do buy a DVI card to support your LCD, be sure to check for support of 1600x1200 resolution. Many DVI cards are limited to 1280x1024. I'm sure others can give suggestions as to which cards do actually support that res.

i use the openGL text screen saveer (use the time optioni) and i see trails like crazy!!!! (ghosts if you will)

is that normal....or am i just tripping out???
