Update all apps but one

My iPoop has like 20 apps that need updating, but there is one I do not want to update. Is there any way to exclude it so I can auto update the rest?
 
You call it that just to get a rise out of people right?

Anyway, what device are you talking about?
 
No, you'll need to update the apps one by be unless you're jail broken as mentioned above.

Try to stay more on top of your updates so they don't pile up I guess.

This. A lovely scrap left over from iOS's server and Unix roots most likely. Linux and OSX do the same thing. They love passwords every time you want to install stuff.

I always gripe about that too. Apps should update automatically.
I complained to apple and they replied to send in a feature request.
In other words, F-off.
I also suggested adding the ability to customize iTunes color scheme.
Especially adding red check marks so you can easily tell what selections have been made.
Nothing worse than scanning thru tons of iTunes video library files or music library looking for a checked box. One could go blind. Or insane.
A simple red check mark in selected boxes would make searching in the itunes world a lot nicer.
I think that's what actually killed Steve Jobs.

lol the bad app is the one i find most useful. It is VLC remote. It will probably be fine if I update it, but I fear it will cause me to also have to update the VLC remote client on my thinclient music server, which has no monitor connected and no logmein installed. If I have to connect a monitor to it I will also install logmein so I dont have this problem again.

I have pretty much given up on itunes since it is an unmanageable unworkable pile of junk software. (Want to backup? "Warning this action will erase all your stuffs because we are apple and you are dumb!")
 
In the app store on the iPad, can't you pick which updates to install? It has been a while since I have updated mine, so i can't say for sure, but I thought I remembered seeing that.

Sure, it would be nice if there were a checkbox or something, but in the broad scheme of things, and the laundry list of other things that I want them to fix, I would rate this pretty low.

Edit: Yes, on the iPad, there is an Update option next to each app that has an update

I guess the question is which one is more inconvenient for you; updating 14+ apps on your iPad, one-by-one, forever, or putting a monitor and LogMeIn on your thin client once.

I'm just not updating anything at all lol. Most of the apps are stupid things that I downloaded just because they were free. I will deal with it when it breaks.

No, I think that was exactly it. He once recommended to someone that they should sell their iPad and get an Acer tablet, maybe he should follow his own advice.

Until he can show the gun being held at his head that is preventing him from selling the device that he so clearly loathes, then I really have no sympathy, nor will I offer him the benefit of the doubt.
 
Would you guys stop thread crapping. The point of this thread was to see if I could do something as simple as exclude an app from their dumbed down update process. I figured there was at least a decent shot at being able to do this.

I wish you could, but you can't. I have to update all of my apps manually, because two of my games that I paid for decided to put ads in the program. Unfortunately, they didn't actually create a separate app, which means if I update, I now have ads even though I paid for the app.

Ever since then, I actually read the change notes in every update to ensure I'm not fucking myself over with an update. I update my apps through iTunes and then just connect my devices. It avoids me having to download the same things twice on my iPhone and iPad, which is nice as I don't have to waste multiple gigs of bandwidth when they fix a minor bug in some really large game.

On that note, why in the world is it so inefficient that I have to redownload everything to fix a minor bug?

I thought that updates would be delta-only after the move to iOS5, but that never seemed to happen.
