Update about AMD Catalyst Driver Support for Project CARS and The Witcher 3

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that we have just posted an important update about our driver’s support for Project CARS and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

"AMD is committed to improving performance for the recently-released Project CARS and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. To that end, we are creating AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta to optimize performance for these titles, and we will continue to work closely with their developers to improve quality and performance. We will release AMD Catalyst™ 15.5 Beta on our website as soon as it is available."

More importantly, you’ll find a workaround if you are experiencing issues with the “HairWorks” feature in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

I loved seeing this post back on 5/20, now i'm a bit miffed these haven't dropped yet.

Can we get some details, how in the dark is AMD on TW3 before it was released?

If time constraints are the reason we are this far beyond the TW3 release without a driver update, then it feels like AMD is not getting going on driver considerations until after the official release of the game.

That's certainly what it seems like. Nvidia had a TW3 optimized driver out on release day or the day after, right?

I've not used an Nvidia card since the 8800 (7 years ago). Not that I'm an AMD/ATI fanboy, but they have always been the cheaper option for comparable performance. However, the slowness of driver updates and optimizations is ridiculous. Maybe it's time to switch?

This is a GameWorks game. Nvidia had better have a day 1 driver for it. Non-GW games, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I'm bothered by the lack of a driver from AMD though. They're taking their time.

Does AMD ask for alpha/beta versions so they could optimize a driver ahead of time? Does the game being NV gameworks prohibit that?

I would assume CDPR would want their game to run well on both hardware makes, but it seem like AMD is disappointingly behind the ball on this release.
