I'm talking to other hiring managers who have open position to try and find you a spot on another team. I'll be in touch if I'm successful.

that sounds like a descent consolation atleast.

Um, he basically said "we found someone much better, you'll never hear from us again" 😛

anon - I'm really sorry about that. I'm looking for another job myself - just keep at it.

no, he said we found a guy with quite a bit more experience than you, so we had to go with him, but we quite like you and would still consider you for other positions.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out, you were so close.

Keep your head up and keep trying.

going through the same motions myself. at first I was depressed but after asking for a bit more detail on why I was rejected I feel much better knowing what I did wrong.

make sure you call Robbie in a few weeks if you haven't heard from him...if another spot does become available, it might help to have him keep you in mind.

Reintroduce yourself, ask him how he's doing, express interest in working there still, ask if there are any new postings etc.... keep it brief and casual...

Thanks for the encouraging words, guys. The entire experience taught me a lot. Amazon definately consists of some very bright people.

They must be hiring like crazy these days... a few months ago I got a call from an Amazon person out of the blue asking me to come in for an interview...

I was looking for a new job earlier and put my resume on Monster... they must have ran a search and found mine... unfortunately I had already found a new job, so I politely declined the offer and thanked them for the opportunity...
