Update: 12/09 Where can I fix my credit

So i a while back i bought a copy of my credit report..and is a cluster..there is crap in there thats not even mine...so where can I start disputing everything??

WHERE DO I START??

Where can I buy a report that I can dispute items from??

Disputed some items with equifax and some stuff was fixed!!! First step is going smooth!!

First of all fixing your credit is NOT easy nor is it quick, trust me.

Next educate yourself by reading Credit Education and How to dispute credit report errors.

Next order all 3 credit reports.

Finally dispute everything in writing and send everything via USPS certified mail.

Assuming the erroneous derogs are removed, wait 2 months for the bureau's to update their tapes from the creditors order your 3 credit reports again and they should be correct.

Again it's not easy nor quick.

Don't sign up for a "cleaning service" they just send meaningless dispute letters that might get items temporarily removed but since they don't really resolve anything the black marks pop right back.

You need to order reports yourself from the 3 (or is it 2 now?) credit rating services, look over the reports, and contact the companies that have sent in incorrect information. If you really didn't do what they say it could either be mistakes (confusing your account with another's) or it could be identity theft.

If you do it right the first time, it will be well worth the little time compared to your credit.

No..thats how long it took me to hear back from Equifax...doing one credit house at a time.
