John Carter of Mars - based on the Mars series by Edgar Rice Burroughs (creator of Tarzan).

Conan the Barbarian - New movie based on the Conan stories by Robert E. Howard.

Solomon Kane - based on the Solomon Kane stories by Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan).

Vultures - based on the Western story, Vultures of Wahpeton, by Robert E. Howard.

Bran Mak Morn">Bran Mak Morn</a> - Based on the Bran Mak Morn stories by Robert E. Howard.

Red Sonja - New Red Sonja movie based on the character by Roy Thomas, who based his character off of Red Sonya (created by Robert E. Howard), if I'm not mistaken.

Hopefully these people can do these stories justice in their movies. The previous Conan and Red Sonja movies were pretty bad and didn't really follow the actual stories.




 
I must say that princess chick from the first or second conan is hot even by todays standards. My rules is if a chick from the 80s can still look hot to someone from today she must have been really f'in hot
 
who is playing Conan? I can't think of any huge barbarian like actors who would fill the role... Maybe a pro wrestler?
 
Darabont confirmed he would be directing an adaptation of Stephen King's 'The Long Walk' as well as 'The Mist'. He's 2-for-2 so far with Shawshank and The Green Mile, will be interesting to see how he adapts these books, especially The Long Walk.

Book - Takes place in Compton, Los Angeles
Movie - Takes place in NYC/Manhattan

Book - 1970's
Movie - 2000's

Book - [can't tell what race he is]
Movie - Robert is black.

So you see, there are (potential) similarities.

I don't know what the original Conan book was about, but I love the Conan the Barbarian movie.

This movie has been in the works for some time now. A number of actors were rumored to be the new Conan.

Likes of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Vin Deisel.

Personally I think that the guy who played the Austrian in "Son of the Beach" would be a good choice.
 
They should take a book and make it into a movie. Then, someone should base a video game off that movie. Finally, someone should write a book based on the video game that includes all the changes to the story made.

And the cycle begins anew.

joshquall - How can you know? Did you see a SUPER sneak preview? And yes, I have read the book. Finished it a few days ago and you know what I was dumbstruck by? The end of the book! It ends 3/4's of the way through and the next page and remainder of the book are short stories. WTF?

Actually, there was never really a Conan book. There were a bunch of short stories. Most of the stuff in the Conan movies is from Kull, another Robert E. Howard character.
