just played a demo of Stronghold Crusader, and it was pretty fun :) i think it's coming out soon (if not already). for the uninitiated, it's AOK themed, except things center around your "castle"... the economy is a bit more complicated, sort of like settlers type economy (you have different buildings to make armor, swords, spears, which then go into the armory).

downloading celtic kings right now.... i'll let you guys know how that goes...

I'm not much of a gamer and haven't heard of those games, but come this November I will be looking forward to the next Tombraider. I know it isn't the greatest game on the planet, but I kind of like the adventure and puzzles involved in the earlier ones.

I am hoping there will be a thief 3, but haven't heard much about it recently.

What is your favorite genre of game?

I'm on dialup and it is just to slow for FPS games. I have to stick to something kind of easy, but like stunning visuals that make the game rewarding. I usually just go to my local electronics boutique and pick up some older used games. I did pick up Freedom Force a couple months ago and am now just starting to play it. That and Spiderman has taken up most of my free time.

Good luck with the games you downloaded.

hmm freedom force... is that fps?

celtic kings looks really good, but it had trouble with my dual monitors. the game is only on one monitor (this is normal) but the cursor can go on to the other monitor, which means it is impossible to scroll in one direction. :|

Freedom Force is more of a role playing game. To be honest I'm not too sure what it is. It seems pretty nice so far. I had to wait for a patch because it kept blacking out on my monitor. It still does it a little bit, but it is much better now. Here is a link. Freedom Force

Freedom Force = My favorite game this year. :D

It's a Superhero RPG. You control a team of up to 4 superheroes and as you go you can upgrade your existing powers and develop new ones. The story mode is fun, but what really makes the game is create-a-character mode. Making your own team of superheroes and taking them into the "Danger Room" mod is an incredible amount of fun.

The multiplayer mode is a bit limited, although 4 teams can participate and my team of X-Men regularly owned my dormmate's Fantastic 4 and Avengers. :p

The developers of Freedom Force are now working with DC comics to make a story mode involving the entire DC universe so you can control Batman and Superman against the Joker and Lex Luther (potentially, there isn't a whole lot of info out on that game yet, just that it's coming).

Yea, I like this kind of game. :p

Sadly, Looking Glass Studios is no more. I don't know if Eidos retained the rights to the Thief franchise or not.

I wouldn't characterize Freedom Force as an RPG, although there are the experience point/level up concepts there. Mainly, it's a squad-level tactical game akin to X-Com, but with superheroes. It's playable both in realtime and pausable modes (similar to Baldur's Gate and the like). It is easily one of my favorite games to be released this year, and has an incredibly active mod community.

Speaking of Freedom Force, City of Heroes is also coming out soon which is a massively multiplayer online RPG where you create your own superheroes.

Hopefully that will be good and the superhero genre will grow.

Exactly the reason why I play fps instead of RTS. I'm too slow in RTS. Usually I get owned in war3 by a million grunts before I even have my first barracks up :(
Thats why I stopped playing it.

Eidos still retains the rights to Thief. While Looking Glass went down with Ion Dallas, Edios is supposedly developing Thief 3 in house along with Dues Ex 2. Hope for the best. :)
