Okay, I have a dumb question to add to the discussion. What is the difference between the Dell 2007FPW and 2007WFP? The website says that one is "wide aspect" and the other is "widescreen". Hmmmm, I'm dumbfounded.

I just made a typo I believe. I thought they would stick with "FPW" but it appears that the new 2007 uses "WFP".

No, take a look for yourself! They even have different description headers. I'm confused. One is described as "Wide Aspect" and the other as "Widescreen", while WFP looks like it has the new base design. The FPW has the WSXGA warning and graphics card check.

The first is the 2005, when they used FPW. The 2007 is the first to start with WFP, the second llink you listed.

Dhl just dropped off my 2007fpw, from a quick lookover I didn't notice any dead or stuck pixels. I'll post my impressions compared to my 2405/2005 after I break it in.

Extremetech.com has a comparison review up about the 2007 and a couple others on their site. If any are interested.

I just ordered a desktop for my girlfriends sister, and included the 2007FPW in the order. I plan on keeping the moniter, so I was interested in the fact that Dell shows the model as 2007FPW and no 2007WFP. I asked the salesperson numerous times to verify that this is in fact the new model and not the 2005 model, she just kept telling me that "don't worry sir this is the new model, wide is better!". I better not be getting some second rate version of the 2007WFP, as I saved some money by using the 40% off coupon.

Hopefully it's just a typo, otherwise I'm not going to be happy. Overall I think I saved about $100.00 on the monitor.

Edit-> On my order confirmation, it does indeed say 2007WFP. If you guys have the means, try building a system and using today's 40% off coupon. If you can sell the system and keep the monitor you can save yourself some dough, because let's face it who wants a dimension?

Things were simple when I simply saw a decent deal on a dell including a 19" TFT and simply upgraded to the Ultrasharp.

That was the 1907FP, and I ordered it (yesterday)

Since then
a) Dell lowered the package price by 50 UKP, so I need to call them to cancel/get amended
b) I started reading the massive debate on PVA/MVA/STN/SIPs panels
c) I got tempted by the 2005FP to watch moves (although I have a 32" widescreen CRT) and desk space - higher res.
d) I read about the new 2007FP, blueray and HDCP

Arrgh isn't technology great.

1. Anyone know if Dell are selling the 2007FP yet? (expect possibly, but pricey)
2. Comments on 2005FPW vs 1907FP - mostly desktop work. Some DVD/TV watching, some gaming.

Yes, one user has it but it has some color gradient problems. :(

2005FPW would have wider viewing angles and better colors but the 1907FP would be faster.

How do the screen sizes of the 1905fp and 2005fpw compare? I have an 1800FP and I want to get widescreen that's around 20", but only if it's just at least as tall and, of course, wider.

By my calcualations (pixel pitch X pixel count). The 20 inch widescreens are the identical vertical size as the standard 17" LCD. Each are 270mm. Or 27 cm (or 10.6 inches).

It is shorter vertically than your 1800FP.

Viper GTS

Doh. Thanks for the link. It's not too much shorter, but I might have to just see a 20" widescreen in person to get a real sense of how big the difference is. Or... I could just get a 23 or 24"...

hmm...I sat down today at the library pondering/dreaming/drooling over a new monitor... I don't know if I should bite on a hot 2005 deal(around $360)...or wait for the 2007 to come down later this year with some coupons...I would need* a new monitor ideally before august or even september.

So for the owners...what do you think of your new 2007's??? Or even better..any new owners of the 2007's also former/current owners of 2005's? A first hand experience review would be great.

I'm ordering one, but the sales rep got the 2007FP by mistake and now it might be shipping to me.

Once I get it straightened out I'll post like crazy (my 15" LCD is feeling wayyy too small).
