What do you guys think is going to happen 2 months from now in the upcoming debt ceiling fight?

If the current fiscal cliff deal passes, that takes a major issue off the table for the Democrats. They do lose a bit of leverage there. I fully expect the GOP to take this as far as they can, they have no qualms about wholesale wrecking the credit of this country to get what they want. They will make the debt ceiling their last stand.

Does Obama have any executive authority to simply bypass Congress? There is talk about using the 14th amendment, but I don't think that would ever hold up in a court of law. I'm starting to think he will do something along these lines, however, if the GOP cannot reasonably compromise.

same thing that is happening now, feign outrage, no side saying they are happy about it, a deal will be reached that doesn't address any real problem.

I don't see what Lindsey Graham said about this vote not applying to the debt ceiling vote.
“We’re going to get blamed and about two weeks into this, we’ll fold like a cheap suit.
Unless the capitulator in chief folds first.

The entire process is a joke. We know the debt ceiling has to be raised, we know it's going to be raised, why go through the theatrics? Make the cap 100 trillion dollars and be done with it.

I expect the pres to begin to solidify a role as one of the great leaders of the USA.

I fully expect legitimate legislation to address debt issues and I believe the pres will bring both sides together on this in conjunction with addressing the delayed sequester.

Cuts on defense and solutions for Medicaid. Lift cap on SS taxable income. Increased spending on infastructure. If you can't see the worst is behind us then I think you be unable to ignore it by 2014.

the president has shown by this fiscal cliff that he is unwilling to make any cuts to any programs. He would rather we go over the cliff then make any significant cuts spending.

Still waiting for a liberal that supported the tax increase to tell us how this will help with the debt & spending problem.

they cant, because it doesn't.
