A while back you guys were imeasureably helpful in providing me exactly what I needed. I feel ashamed to have misplaced this great treasure! Yeah, I'm like the kid that begs his parents for an electric guitar and then refuses to play with it. I squandered my forturne and I return as the prodigal son. A little help?

Actually, I've been googling all day. Unfortunately, code 39!=UPC. There are plenty of free Code3 of 9 fonts, but all the UPC fonts I can find print "demo" in the font. :(

Did you scroll down past that to the UPC/EAN section? There are some font packs there.

It says "demo" too. I see now that it requires a macro, so as an openoffice.org user, I'm out of luck anyway. :(

Need to print out a fake UPS to send in for a rebate?

Well, thanks hjo3... I looked at that page again and using upc-a.zip, I managed to get a scanable (I think) barcode, but there's no way I can apply the technique to a list of a hundred game titles manually without even a way to confirm it. Scanning the barcodes and printing images does not produce lines in any printing mode (more like, jagged thingies), so that's why it needs to be a font.

Like that would ever work. Those guys see hundreds of the same exact UPCs when they are opening envelopes for the current promotion and they could probably spot a fake by touch. It would be INSANE to attempt that because there is a high likelyhood that you would go to jail for fraud. Not only that, the point sizes of the font would rarely match the original UPC.

No, I need to print out about 100 different UPCs for regular price-checking at several store locations. The last time was so that I could trade in a copy of a game at a place that scans to UPC to accept the game (this particular copy was a sealed pack-in game sold originally with a Playstation 2 with no UPC on the box art).

In this case, I bought about 48 PC games in the last 4 weeks, almost exclusively at Circuit City. I bought more than a few at Big Lots, but guess which store now has a Buy One Get One Free offer on PC games under $19.99? I'm going to re-buy much of it and return the originals but a large portion was the last copy of each game. They were different prices at different locations (eg, Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition was $34.99 at one location and $18.96 at another), so I have to find the correct locations to return much of this and hope to buy it back when it hits the shelf again. It's bad enough that they broke up the purchases from one visit into three disqualifying me for my $15-off $100 coupon and now this (the coupon is still valid too but the price will be significantly cheaper).

Unfortunately, I've opened much of it so the return/rebuy will only work for some. :( A manager at one store already told me that they will do the 30-day price match (I didn't ask!) but I'd be willing to bet that there will be trouble PMing a BOGO free offer.

But yeah, the ability to print barcodes would have helped me find many titles for the cheapest price already, so I do need to work something out.
