my current rig:
CPU: 1 Intel Northwood, P4 2800MHz
Motherboard: Asus P4T533-C
Memory: 1024 MB of Samsung 1066 RDRAM
Video Card: ATI 9700 pro ATI Radeon
Hard Drive: Western Digital special edition 8mb cache 100.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS

I tried searching around this site for the new up and comming stuff and didn't have too much luck. I heared that within the next year there will be some new OS for windows and some new processor types. I couldn't find it here. I am thinking about redoing my system and want to see what I should be looking for.

Your system is one that a lot of people are wanting to upgrade to. Keep it, If you have money to spend get a new graphics card.

The new OS from Microsoft (Code named: Longhorn) is 64 bit and will require a 64 Bit Processor (Northwood is 32 Bit). However I would not be an early adopter on this one; We do not know how good it is going to be, the last time MS attemted to write a (but not really) new OS was windows 95 (Piece of Junk). The biggest problem outside of the unknown quality of it is the lack of driver support for Longhorn.

I believe the processor you are thinking of is Dual Core and they are already avalable. And as Moore's Law states: New Processors are always just around the corner.

Well the basic reason is that I think that I have some bad memory. Unfortunately pc1066 isn't really supported and I don't think I am going to be able to replace it. So, I might end up buying a new motherboard and memory set 🙁 If I end up doing that I want to know if I should just kinda push it off till the new stuff comes out.
