I built a system with a 1700x a few years back and it was solid, on 24/7, until last month. I suspect a lightning storm could have killed it. I was away at work and I couldn't boot to bios when I came home.
(RGB) RAM, CPU fans, case fans, GPU power light and fans would spool or light up for a second then the system would shut down after pushing the power button.
I've confirmed the GPU and PSU are fine as I put them in an old system. The CPU was definitely toast as I tried it on a friend's motherboard and it wouldn't get to BIOS either.
Would it be okay to reuse the motherboard?
