Unwanted folder on startup

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I could find nothing with the search function.

I am running Windows XP Home SP1.

My computer automatically boots up with the My Computer explorer folder on start up. It started doing this after a crash. I have tried various fixes as suggested in annoyances.org but they have not worked. The fixes I have tried so far have been:

1. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENT VERSION\WINLOGON Change USERINIT from C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe to C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,

This didn't work as this reg entry is already correct.

2. Looking for null or invalid entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run & HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\CurrentVersion\Run.

This didn't work as I could find no null or invalid entries! If it would help I will happily post the entries I do have in these folders in case I am missing something....

3. Unchecking the "Restore previous folder windows at logon" in the Folder Options.

This didn't work as the box was already unchecked, I did try checking it, rebooting, and then unchecking it again. No joy at all....

4. Using msconfig for checking starup items.

This didn't work as I could find nothing out of the ordinary. I have tried disabling most of the startup items (leaving only my virus checker, firewall, pop-up stopper etc running). But again no joy.

Please can anyone suggest anything else to try? I am starting to get very very annoyed with it now!

Cheers.

OK. Sussed it out. And it seems I am officially a total spasmo....

Simply used System Restore to go back to before the crash. Duh!!! You have no idea how much time I have wasted with this today!
