I rebuilt a system when the XP HDD went south & managed to save some stuff on a partition of the second (98se) drive seperate from the OS. I've got XP installed on a new disk & am ready to put the old disk back in the system to retreive files. I do not want 98 back & as I recall XP set up dual boot before on it's own. Do I need to boot to a DOS disk & format the 98 partition brfore booting or can I stop the dual boot set up? If it does set it up & then 98 is removed will the dual boot screen go away? Thanx for any tips.

EDIT: Got it worked out.

I believe you can remove the dual boot message by editing the boot.ini file. You can access that file by opening System Properties (Control Panel, System), select Advanced, click on Settings under Startup and Recovery, and click on the Edit button.
