unusual video corruption

Recently, I've noticed some unusual video corruption on my monitor. I can't take a screen shot, because if the problem is MY system, you won't see it on the screentshot.

The best example I can find is every video I watch on YouTube (or anywhere else). Every person looks like they have blue veins popping out of their skin. The its a small series of blue-ish dots, dithered over the actual image. The distortion follows the image and is not specific to an area of the screen. Also, this same distortion is seen in 3d games, such as World of Warcraft. It's easier to see on white-ish and red-ish backgrounds.

I'm using a Viewsonic VP201b monitor, connected via DVI to a GeForce 8800GTX. This problem has not always been there. It's recent.

I tried a new DVI cable, switching to older video card drivers (versions 158.22 and 97.94, and used a driver cleaner), and connecting to the other DVI connector on the back of the card. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the monitor driver. None of these made any difference. It would seem the problem is either the monitor itself, the video card itself, or manifested somewhere in the drivers that I can not fix by uninstalling and reinstalling.

I would appreciate any insight to this problem that anyone can offer.

Just in case anyone ever reads this thread in the future, the dithering corruption was the monitor. I finally found another monitor to hook up, and it is just fine.

I've never seen an LCD monitor corrupt to the point where pixels selectively misrepresnet only particular colors, but that appears to be what happened.

I have a similar problem but it's not the monitor. I know this because I have two screen's and they both do it.

Problem seems to be the video card, but not sure. I've tried installing new drivers but it's still the same. The only thing that makes a difference is when I change the screen resolution the blue dots change. also the dots don't cover icon's or the mouse. And yes I've checked for viruses.

Screen shot with black windows background to show up the blue dot's. note on a white screen they change to yellow dots as you can see in the setting screen.

Has any on else had this problem?

System is: P4 3.0gh, 1gb ram, Asus P4S800-MX motherboard. Agp Video Card details on screen shot.
