Hi,

First let me apologize if this is the wrong place for my question but didn’t know who else to ask & some of you are expert on hardware so that you might know. Tried to google but no definitive answer.

I just bought LG Dual Inverter 1.5 Ton A/C & Outdoor unit fan stops after set temp is reached. It also does not start for 10 to 15 minutes or sometimes not at all if indoor temp goes 2 or 3 degrees above set temp.

Also at night many times it keeps running beyond set temp bringing the temp so low that I shiver & wake up.

Before purchasing Several Sales people told me that neither Fan nor Compressor completely stop even when set tem is reached. They only slow down.

So what is the truth ? Does outdoor unit fan stop when desired temp is reached ? The compressor certainly does not so what happens then ? And is there something wrong with my A/C.

LG did send technician & he said this is normal & if A?C does not start at 30 Celsius then lower the temp to 27 or 26. If I do that I will shiver.

Again please forgive me if this is not the right forum.

Thank You

The unit should run until the set temperature is reached, then shut down. If it's behaving erratically the first thing to look at is the thermostat. Something as simple as being on an outside wall or to near register will cause issues. It could also be an incorrect anticipator setting in the thermostat.

It is not just on the other side of same wall. There is a bathroom in between.
It is not as easy as a thermostat. It has a circuit board & sensor that controls the temp.
Unless someone has this kind of A/C, it is hard to describe everything.

Regardless of how it operates, there is a thermostat of some sort in the house. The only other options are a simple on off switch or a timer.

If compressor stays on and fan turns off, I would imagine it would heatsoak the radiator quickly, but if the compressor in turn is variable speed, then it could be turned down enough to prevent substantial additional cooling.

I agree with Greenman - it's common for the unit to run beyond set point if set so in the thermostat (my thermostat is designed to cool a few pts below the set point so it doesn't have to turn on as often) but you'd need to look at thermostat programming.

I don't know why you say it's not just the thermostat. The thermostat will control all triggering of the unit, unless it has multiple temperature "pick-ups".

You're on a primarily US based forum, my guess is your unit is regional focused, so you're probably not going to get the support you want, especially if you're saying that we would only "get it" if we had the same unit.
