unusual Asus p5k-e/wifi problem

I have bought a P5K-E/wifi board, core 2 6420 cpu, ATI x1950 pro 512mb Pci-e graphics card & 2 x 1gb OCZ ram. I put it all together and startup, I can get into the bios screen but when I leave the bios the power supply is turned off for 5 seconds and then back on. If I dont go into the bios then it posts fine but after it says "checking NVRAM" the power suppply turns off again for 5 seconds and then cycles. What the hell is going on, any help would be much appreciated.
