Probably going to regret sharing this in a public venue, but I felt like letting others read. Feel free to leave your thoughts, whatever they may be.

“It didn’t have to end this way”, he said.
Standing there, alone, in the pouring rain
The curtain’s close, the drapery falls,
There’s nothing left to gain
Only the stress of failed reconciliation
Unbearable agony, causing emaciation
Shadows of the past descend at night
Weaving and painting a forlorn sky
Seething tears scald the cheeks
The words come quietly, but I hush my urge to speak
I lay listless, choking on the memory of what once was
Gasping for air, my reward drowned out by applause
For you were merely an actress in this violent charade
Deliverance gave me strength to see through your façade
There are so many unanswered questions that linger in my mind
They will forever be contested, as the sands of time
Burn slowly through my bruised and broken heart,
It refuses to mend, as we’re worlds apart
You were the sun in my sky,
I held you with such high regard,
I’m imprisoned by the void you left
The soul you claim I never saw is forever scarred
I’m tired of fighting the demons you’ve left,
I’ll sail off to see and never come back
Counting down the days until I submit to reality
Break the silence, give me my dignity back!
