So amidst the last 3 months of upgrading/rebuilding the family PC's in the house, finding nice deals on Slickdeals and the like and the recent spree of deals from Black Friday and the accompanying days, I find myself having built one system too many...
I personally have 3 rigs for myself, or 2.5 anyways as I need to source another ITX casing for the rebuild of the third rig.
After all was said and done, one of the builds in the house was replaced by a little Asus Vivo PC as it looks nicer in the living room and has a better onboard wireless solution than what I was about to equip it with and a nice price from Black Friday.
So the living room HTPC system is going to upgrade the oldest system in my house, my dad's aging E7200 with a Celeron G1850. However I had already bought a Pentium G3258 to play around with OCing since I picked up a deal on an MSI Z87 MPower SP as well. Originally planned to play around with some silly OCing again till I re-built my main rig and then upgrade the old system. Now I'm delegating the Celly to do that, but now I have no use for this Pentium...
At this point aside from waiting for a system to fail I don't see the use as every member of the household has at least 1 computer (with me having 3 😛).
Actually through the course of writing this I may have replaced one of my systems (media server) with another Black Friday purchase of a Netgear ReadyNAS... Depending on how it integrates into the media sharing I have going on in the house I may just sell the box off if the software/accessibility isn't user friendly enough for my family. I got them to learn Homegroup sharing (was the simplest network sharing I could see myself wanting to configure and teach) so time will tell on the difficulty the Netgear software presents.
So who has ideas on what to do with the extra systems I got lying around now?
tl;dr, I have an extra Pentium G3258 + MSI Z87 MPower SP and a fairly new Athlon 5150 + MSI AM1I
