Hello,
Does anyone know a good way to tell what an "Unsupported Device"
in device manager is?
I feel like it's something to do with the sound card.
It's a Sound Blaster CT2970 with a AWE32 upgrade CT1920.
The upgrade card is plugged into a seperate ISA slot with a cable running to
the sound card. There's 2 simms added on the upgrade card & I was wondering if
these address's were for the 2 Simms.

The mystery devices use
I/O resource 0100-0100
I/O resource 0108-0108

I used HWinfo32, but the computer's running Win98se and I only get some
PCI information.

Maybe someone knows what those address's are common for.

Could it be a motherboard resource?
Chipset?
I'm sure the motherboard predated Win98.
It's an Intel Advanced/ML with a Pentium 166.

EDIT
OK, I found it in the registry.
It's something on the "Creative Sound Blaster 16 Plug and Play" card.
The "audio" is Device 0000
"Unsupported Device" is 0001
"Unsupported Device" is 0002
"Gameport Joystick" is 0003

Do you think updated drivers would help?
I'm on "Dial-up Hell" and didn't want to download a huge driver file.
I'll go look now.

Thanks for the links redbeard1,
I tried the drivers from the site & they're older than Win98se's drivers.:disgust:
Creative doesn't even list the "Live" cards as current anymore, so I guess they
really don't care about SB16 users anymore.

So you downloaded it and extracted the files? I forgot to mention that the file to run the update says something to the effect of win95up.exe. I generally only use SB16/32 cards for the basic 98SE systems I put together, and there are certain ones that I always need to run that update on to get rid of all of the unknown devices.
