Friend recently experienced .. random crash errors and such even when finished copying setup files off windows CD (from reformat), and installing the windows itself. I'd figure it a messed up HD? .. Not sure about specific specs, should be a 60GB Maxtor. Thats about all the information I have for you.. should be 7200 RPM as well. :|
A year old about.. warranty expired. I've been experiencing a similar problem on my older computer, 2.4A (400fsB), ASUS P4B400, and 2x 256 PC2100 Generic Memory. The computer runs quite quick.. but it crashes oddly.. any suggestions? .. maybe somebody has experienced/understand this situation? .. The crashes are.. quite random, sometimes it crashes when I access a specific file under specific circumstances. :| Unfortunately, I don't have any P4 compatible mobos/chips or even HD to try to test if its mobo/CPU.


Help? ..

Run Maxtor's utilities on the drives. If you get an error code, the drive is trash. If not, look elsewhere.
