unstable speed

Im using a laptop in my room sony vaio vgn s460/b
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection (802.11b/g)3

but for some reason I am getting unstable speed from 24mbps to 54mbps.

my other laptop toshiba has no problem. It is always getting a stable 54mbps

is there a specific problem with the laptop>?
