unstable quake loops

I have been having trouble running quake loops at any speed I try (including stock). My friend just upgraded his system and has the same problem. Basically after about a half an hour we get an error about allocating something. ANyway, my system seems pretty stable while playing games like B&W and some others, but some of his games will just boot him out after a little while of playing (just drop to the desktop). I'm just wondering what the problem could be. I'm using NVIDIA 11.01 drivers and he's using his stock Hercules drivers. Both of us are using the newest chipset drivers from VIA. Both of us are using 1004 bios for a7v133's.

I have the newest (or close) 4 in 1 drivers in. I've tried changing a number of settings in the bios (including default). One comp has 11.01 Nvidia drivers the other has default Herc drivers. I've tried re-seating the video card. Bank interleave is set to auto. Uh... I know my power supply is weak, but I doubt (but haven't ruled out) it is the problem. Brownouts are not aproblem here in Ohio, but if they were it wouldn't do it ALL the time. I can run prime 95 for days. Might try 3dmark, but I haven't had much luck downloading it. I feel bad because I reccomended the Asus board to my friend and he's been having some trouble.

Just to drive the point home: It does this even if not overclocked.
