Of course, if they let you have a computer in your bed room they're making a huge mistake.
DOH! Well, I'm not exactly a "bad" kid if you know what I mean. And it's not like they don't have parental controls on 24/7 - when I had internet in my room, they had everything logged - EVERYTHING. That should clarify some of your initial 'doubts'.
The main reason I want internet in my room is:
Project researching is so much easier. Tthe computer I'm on simply does not have the space, nor the resources for Word. Not kidding at all. We DO have Windows XP on it, and roughly 500MB remaining - this computer shipped with windows 95, just to let you know.
It's a hassle to go upstairs and downstairs just to get some fact (or in a recent case: pictures for a powerpoint presentation).
Another reason is simply to play games online. I mean come on, I spent $1500 on a rig... just to use Word and type up reports?
Again, I understand how you feel about this, but please don't get me wrong. Yes, there have been times I've done stuff that I'm not supposed to - I realize that. Then again, the filters prevent me from doing anything anyways.
